As previously stated, I drink. I’d like to consider myself a semi-pro. I don’t get paid, yet, but I am getting there. I love to drink. I can get down with the occasion cheap drunk i.e. Keystone Light and National Bohemian, but when the money gods are kind and like to share with me, I prefer good beer. Or Bourbon, but mostly beer.
I have some brilliant parents, who brought us up well with a fine appreciation for food. Honing my palate over the years on haute cuisine, cigars, women, and booze, I’d like to think that I have achieved an impeccable palate and ought to share my opinion with you.
BEER # 1
Dogfish Head’s Squall 90 Minute IPA
Sweet Chocolate Christ. This is a good beer. It starts off with a handsome head and amber-ish body. The nose is that of citrus, namely grapefruit, and lavender. Slightly lower than room temperature, the taste is pleasantly hoppy, but not overly so. It glides over your tongue with a silky mouth feel, almost creamy towards the end with a pleasant salted caramel. Solid finish.
92/ 100.
These ratings are completely bullshit and I give my own criterion. There is no real reason why it is a 92 other than the fact that I loved it. I’m pretty sure the beer that will finally score a 100 will make me come upon the first sip.
